Occupational Health Nurse
(McClean Lake)
Reporting to the Safety Coordinator, this position is responsible for the following duties:
Responsibilities include:
- Perform client assessment, planning, implementation of care, and on-going evaluation of patient(s)
- Administrate the medical surveillance program (annual testing/annual medicals) for compliance with regulatory and company requirements
- Liaise with the company doctor as required
- Facilitate First Aid training and other health and wellness related information sessions
- Manage preventive health programs including immunizations
- Revise and create procedures and work instructions within the Integrated Management System
- Compile and submit monthly injury statistics reports
- Perform site-wide health inspections
- Participate in emergency training exercises with the Emergency Response Team
- Support the Radiation Protection Group with administration of the bioassay program
- Provide sample collection for substance testing in support of the Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program
- Liaise with provincial health authorities as required
- Administer the Direct Observed Therapy (DOT) procedure for clients with Tuberculosis
- Perform sutures if certified by an accredited program
- Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
- Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in Saskatchewan, preferably with occupational health experience and/or northern nursing experience
- The following training will be provided by Orano as required:
- Spirometry and Audiometry
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- First Aid Instructor’s Certificate
- Previous experience performing ECG’s is an asset
- Familiarity with Employee Family Assistance Program
- Proficient in Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Required to have a sound knowledge of the company’s operations and legislative requirements
- Open to learning and takes initiative
- Excellent personal communication skills, both written and verbal
- A team player who is able to develop positive working relationships and work closely and effectively with all team members
- Respect for and understanding of multicultural values
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and, where necessary, take charge and assign direction in emergency situations
- Preference will be given to qualified Residents of Saskatchewan’s North (RSN)
Work Location & Schedule:
- McClean Lake mine site; 11 hour work days
- 14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
- Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
- On-call support is required
Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Camsell Portage, Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.
As a condition of employment the successful candidate must complete Orano’s pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks.
Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
