Reporting to the Senior Manager Studies, the Project Manager, Studies is accountable for the scoping and delivery of studies from inception through to FEL2 completion. These studies cover all aspects of the KPSC Bethune mine, and help shape the future of the business. This position is expected to co-ordinate with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver studies, accounting for project budget, schedule, while delivering solutions that address the business objectives. This role will help to define, quantify and create scope definitions for each project such that an internal team, engineering firm (or combination) can complete the studies required for the initial phases of the project. It is expected that this position will provide direct supervision and mentorship of future additions to the Study Management group.
- Leads and/or supports with project design through study phases, ensures studies solve stakeholder objectives.
- Coordinates with internal technical team and 3rd party vendors to complete technical design deliverables.
- Collaborate with execution focused Project Managers and Project Engineers for effective transition from study to project execution phases.
- Support business case development and develop conceptual studies, pre-feasibility, and feasibility reports jointly with Project Sponsor, Project Owner, and Finance, Engineering, and Operations teams.
- Carry out necessary assessments, co-ordinate technical and financial modeling, and scenario analysis to develop and evaluate options to achieve target outcomes of the proposed project.
- Conduct value engineering and facilitate decision-making with stakeholders.
- Keep stakeholders, including relevant technical teams in K+S, engaged [and bought in/brought along] throughout study development.
- Develop presentations, memos, reports and spreadsheets detailing all aspects of studies including basis, decisions and study outcomes.

- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Professional designation preferred, a combination of equivalent skills and experience will be considered.
- Project Management Professional Designation (PMP) is considered an asset.
- 10+ years’ experience in engineering or project management, preference given to experience in potash or heavy industry.
- Demonstrated experience in Engineering environments and working with EPCMs and consultants.
- Experience in FEED projects, specifically from initiation through to completion of feasibility study.
- Demonstrated proficiency in fostering business-focused collaboration, aligning cross-functional teams and driving projects to successful completion.
- Established leadership abilities, including influencing the decision-making of internal and external stakeholders, and coaching, mentoring, and developing a team.
- Proficient in data-driven decision-making and business intelligence, leveraging analytical tools and methodologies to enable informed strategic decisions, optimize processes and drive continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to analytically solve problems with a creative approach, and accepting responsibility for outcomes.
