This position is located in (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and is not available for remote work.

 

What you will do:

  • Provides the leadership, direction, governance, and control necessary to ensure the sustainable, efficient execution of the current and future potash capital portfolio
  • Analyzes site, portfolio, and corporate needs and applies specialized professional judgment in complex situations to ensure strategic objectives are met to maximize value of Capital investments.
  • Provides strategic oversight and direction on the Business Unit’s Major Capital projects to mitigate enterprise risk and support project success. 
  • Works closely with Major Project’s teams to support in communication and presentations for Senior leadership on Major project decisions.
  • Provides recommendations to Senior Leadership, Nutrient President(s), and the Executive Leadership Team on the the $1 – $1.5B portfolio that will lead to cost savings and efficiencies within the Potash Business Unit.  This requires the individual to evaluate key portfolio metrics and report to senior leaders on portfolio performance.
  • Ensures standardization and continuous improvement of the Capital Processes in Potash while maintaining alignment across all nutrients (NPK and T&D)
  • Ensures sufficient level of front-end development (engineering) on critical projects in the portfolio
  • Oversight of Potash Project Manager’s skills development programs including training on all aligned processes
  • Provides input into monthly capital portfolio reports for FP&A, Corporate Tax, Senior Leadership, Nutrient President(s), and the Executive Leadership Team
  • Guides Site Capital Portfolio Managers throughout planning cycles and unplanned portfolio changes with regular coaching on best practices
  • Develops risk-based models with support from site teams to create scenarios to determine optimal capital spend to support long term safe potash production
  • Responsible to liaise with multiple departments within the Potash Business Unit, corporate, and other Nutrien project management offices regarding capital portfolio and capital processes
  • Supports the Director of Capital and Technology in the creation of long- and short-term Strategic Objectives. Monitors Key Performance Indicators to ensure success
  • Accepts responsibility to resolves issues and remove obstacles that are escalated by the Portfolio Managers and other department / portfolios
  • Works directly with potash sites to facilitate 5-year capital plan and annual capital submission to ensure they align with FP&A guidance and strategy for the Potash Business Unit
  • Engages, motivates, and inspires the Site Operations teams to embrace change and support the continuous improvement of the Corporation’s capital strategies and aligned project management procedures to assure project success

 

What you will bring:

  • A proven track record of at least 10 years of related technical and managerial experience in Capital Portfolio and Major projects in Mining, Mineral Processing, or similar industrial companies
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business or equivalent from an accredited university
  • P.Eng. , CPA, Designation would be an asset.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Designation would be an asset
  • MBA (Masters in Business and Admin) would be an asset
  • Must be highly motivated and have the ability to lead/coach people to maintain the highest levels of expertise and performance.
  • Ability to work successfully in an environment with minimal supervision and a high degree of interaction between management, teams and individuals.
