Join presenter Karen Coates (Mines Inspector) for an interactive presentation and Q&A opportunity.
This Presentation will provide and update on the Government of Saskatchewan, Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, Mines Safety Group. It will provide an overview of who we are, what we do, and what has changed in the most recent update of Saskatchewan Mines Regulations.
Karen graduated from the University of Saskatchewan as a Geological Engineer and began her career as a Mine Technician at Rocanville Potash Mine. Karen worked as a Mine Engineer at Lanigan Potash Mine, and Rabbit Lake, Eagle Point Uranium Mine. Prior to her current position she spent several years developing and running the Mining Engineering Technology Program as Program Head at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
Karen has developed a passion for rock mechanics, ground control, and of course safety throughout her career. She spent several years as a board member for CIM Saskatoon Branch.
She is also known as Karen Wisser and recently celebrated her marriage and birth of her first child. In her spare time, she enjoys coaching equestrian sports, volunteering with Local Canadian Pony Clubs, and competing in showjumping and dressage on her Saskatchewan bred horse.
