The Role
Cameco is looking for a skilled safety professional to join the McArthur River operations. In this role, you will spend a minimum of 50% of your time in the field, including surface and underground. You will work collaboratively within the department and engage site stakeholders on safety improvement opportunities and initiatives. You will have an opportunity to be an active member of our emergency response program.
In this role, you will:
-Complete testing of fire protection safety system equipment
-Conduct equipment calibration
-Complete routine workplace inspections including underground and surface
-Attend job hazard analyses (JHAs), evaluating the safety risks and controls
-Complete incident reporting, investigations, and support the development and implementation of corrective actions resulting from incident reviews
Required:
-Diploma in occupational health and safety, or relevant technology such as an NCSO designation
-Three to five years of relevant work experience in an industrial or mining setting
-Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
-Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
-Willingness to participate on the emergency response and mine rescue team
-Provincial Mine Rescue Certification
-National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent designation
-Standard first aid certificate
-Certified to perform NFPA fire extinguisher testing
-Strong computer skills
