Anne Gent Wins 2016 CIM-Bedford Young Mining Leaders Award

WIM/WiN-SK is pleased to announce that Anne Gent has won the 2016 CIM-Bedford Young Mining Leaders Award and extends congratulations to Ms. Gent. The award recognizes outstanding achievement and potential of young Canadian mining leaders.

Anne is a Senior Environmental Scientist at Cameco Corporation within the Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality Department in Saskatoon, SK and has a passion for environmental leadership in the mining industry. Anne has been a member of WIM/WiN-SK since its founding in 2012. As Co-Chair, she represents the nuclear aspects of the group. In her role, she has devoted countless hours to our organization and has been instrumental in governance, marketing, and board leadership. In addition to WIM/WiN-SK, Anne is the Chair for the Saskatoon Women’s Network Vacation Dinner and serves on the boards of the Society of Toxicologists and Chemists – Prairie Northern Chapter and Women in Nuclear Canada.

Anne is an exceptional role model for the mining industry, promoting the clean energy benefits of uranium. She has worked at remote camps and has experienced firsthand the importance of community relations and safety. She is the perfect role model to break down stereotypes of the industry and to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics careers, especially for women.
